In terms of kid-approved amenities, there’s a full day — and evening — of activities on the 24-acre, Orlando-Fla., property, including a 3,000-square-foot arcade and a kids’ spa. But perhaps the most exciting amenities are the two pool areas.

In The Lagoon, a courtyard aquatic play space, there’s a zero-depth-entry pool featuring a four-story interactive water tower with a 400-gallon dump tank that splashes slime on guests daily. Kids of all ages also can play minigolf or shoot hoops in a netted basketball court with multi-height basketball hoops. For the little ones, there’s a wet/dry play area with a 5-foot slide and Nick Jr.-branded, water-based activities.

The Oasis includes a wet/dry play area, a lap-style pool and an interactive water tower with slides of varying heights. For toddlers, there’s a sand play space and a wet/dry play area with slides and squirt games.

Nickelodeon is known for its children’s entertainment and that is perhaps one of the signature elements of this resort. Poolside entertainment includes “Dive in for Nick Live,” a live, interactive, high-energy family show; the SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom Bash pool party; and Dive In Movies.

Other entertainment includes nightly live entertainment in the state-of-the art Studio Nick; Dora’s Sing-Along Adventure, featuring Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer; and “Who Knows Best?” — a game show-type experience pitting grown-ups against kids.

The entertainment even extends to the guest rooms. At this facility, more than 777 Nickelodeon-themed KidSuites are available. The semiprivate, themed kids’ bedroom includes bunk beds or two twin beds, a 20-inch television with in-suite movie rentals, a game system and CD/cassette player.

Mealtimes are kid-focused, too. Daily Character Breakfasts in Nicktoons Café feature a buffet breakfast with Nick faves, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Cosmo and Wanda from “The Fairly OddParents” and characters from “The Rugrats.”

Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holiday Inn opened June 2005 as the first Nick Hotel in the world. It expects to welcome its one-millionth guest by the end of this year.
